Cascade Green to Caledonia

After waiting for a number of trains to clear Brant Junction — including Hagersville Subdivision trains no. 501 & 502 — CN local no. 580 trundles over the Burford Spur in downtown Brantford with an eclectic pair of locomotives that drew railfans from far and wide on this muggy June morning.

With a dozen centrebeams in tow, BNSF 2098 guides CN train no. 580 by Blastech in Cainsville, Ontario.

The crew aboard the venerable 2098 puts on a show for the gaggle of railfans gathered at this scenic grade crossing near Onondaga — by my tally, there were no less than two dozen people present.

I can’t vouch for the people fishing, but railfans sure had quite the catch at Caledonia this afternoon!
