sunburst monday
Monday, April 8th, 2024 will undoubtedly be remembered as a day anticipated by many. Today, the first total solar eclipse in nearly a century will occur with a path of totality spanning over 200 million people across Canada and the United States. While the local weather conditions around southern Ontario are mostly overcast, much to the chagrin of the tens of thousands who have flocked to the area, I wish the best of luck to all who are taking in this once-in-a-lifetime celestial event. Be safe out there and don't forget to wear your eclipse glasses!
Here, the setting winter sun is eclipsed by GMTX GP38-2 2279, it's golden rays bursting through the engineer's window, as CN train no. 568 trundles through snow-laden fields near Shakespeare, Ont., on January 20th, 2019.
