Dimensionals and a Double Double
Getting caught up on housework was the name of the game today, but when my phone pinged with a text from a friend that a train was on its way with a couple of interesting loads, my brother and I decided to head trackside to check it out.
A welcomed break in the clouds lightens the farmland at Carlisle, Ont., as Canadian Pacific GE AC4400CWMs 8206-8066 roll along with Hamilton Subdivision with Buffalo to Toronto train no. 237
Trailing behind the head-end power was a unique dimensional load on a depressed flat car — supposedly a piece of mining equipment destined for Salt Lake City, Utah!
“Welcome to Tim Hortons, how can we help you”?
Reportedly headed for the Yukon — a pair of Tim Hortons Mobile Restaurants roll northward at Carlisle. It’ll be a long trip up to the Yukon so I hope they have lots of timbits!
As we walked back to the car, my brother and I joked about riding the rails and making coffee aboard the Tim Hortons Express. The dark roast Keurirg waiting for me at home would have to do instead.
Earlier in the day, London to Buffalo train no. 236 rolled through with a couple of visitors from Western US railroads BNSF and Union Pacific. Here, they are seen stretching out along the straightaway at Mile 69 of the Hamilton Subdivision. Of the hundreds of trains I’ve photographed here over the years, I believe this is the first to have a BNSF/UP combo, and most certainly, the first Tim Hortons on the rails!
